Carabineros de San Juan de la Costa presented a request for the The project to build the damaged checkpoint of the Tenth Zone is considered in the 2023 budget of the Regional Government of Los Lagos. Let’s remember that the sector has been without this establishment since 2018.
Police from the Tenth Zone in the Los Lagos region confirmed the request for the visit of professionals from the institution’s Project Development Department, to speed up the initiative to build the San Juan de la Costa checkpoint, which burned down in 2018.
This was announced by General Carlos López to Radio Bío Bío, who stressed that the works are a “priority project, with the understanding that it is necessary to provide a better service to the residents of the commune and an adequate facility for its officials”.
In fact, from the police institution they explained that, “a property replacement project was prepared for financing through the National Regional Development Fund, FNDR, which was presented for processing”.

To this end, the latest reports requested by the Social Development Seremi were received last September from the National Corporation for Indigenous Development.
As explained by the zone general, “the objective is to request the Regional Government to prioritize financing for 2023, and have a new facility in the shortest possible time”.
Responding to the Carabineros response, the mayor of San Juan de la Costa, Bernardo Candia, explained that they were officiated by the institution in the same way, in order to know the scope of the project that is expected to be executed.
Because of the above, he explained that they will hope that the expected term can be met, after staying for nearly 4 years in an establishment that has the conditions necessary for the protection of the population, and the work of officials.
Let’s remember that it was the past 23 of July 2018, when a violent fire -generated by an electrical fault – completely destroyed the police checkpoint in the La Misión sector, San Juan de la Costa commune.
