At least 21 people in the Chinese province of Hubei fell victim to flooding caused by torrential rains. Four people are reported missing. This was reported on Friday, August 13, “Xinhua“.
A natural disaster struck the city of Liulin the day before. The amount of precipitation exceeded 100 mm / h. The water level was 3.5 m, and in some parts of the city it reached 5 m. There is no electricity or running water in the region. In total, more than 8 thousand people suffered from the consequences of the disaster in the city.
According to the provincial emergency department, cited by the publication, a total of 108,700 people were affected by extreme weather conditions in the province, and nearly 6,000 people were evacuated.
The provincial authorities raised the hazard level due to floods and rains from minimum (fourth) to medium (third).

Earlier on July 20, a dam was destroyed by flooding at a reservoir in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou (the capital of Henan province, Central China). According to the provincial emergency department, it was upgraded to the first level of emergency response to meteorological disasters. At least 25 people were killed and at least 12 others were killed by flooding in the Zhengzhou subway.
