After Carlos Rivera leftJosé the Dreamer, Kalimba -who until a few weeks ago played to The Pharaoh– will star in a new stage of the staging alongside Erik Rubín and Fela Domínguez. After the first rehearsals, the artist shared that he feels a great connection with the character he will play because both had to face justice from prison.

The member of OV7 granted an interview for the program Hoy where he was honest about the wave of emotions he felt during his first meeting with José, since his tragic story reminded him of the situation that he faced more than 10 years ago when he was accused of rape by a young woman who was a minor at the time.

Interestingly, we both [went through] exactly the same thing, for a defamation on the same subject, how curious! The first three times I rehearsed it I cried without acting, I cried real. I am in the skin of José throughout the work and when they throw him in jail for defamation he says ‘ I don’t deserve to be here ‘”, he declared for the cameras of morning.

The interpreter of Touching the bottom explained that in addition to the similarities he found with the character he will play in the coming weeks, he also considers that, until the moment, José is one of the most complex roles he has played throughout his career due to the strong experiences he recounts and the message he gives.

“He is the character that I have had to do with a greater message and it is the character that I have had to do with a greater change of nuances, emotions, feelings, moments, experiences, then honestly it’s getting a little easier for me, it’s quite complex, but easier than it seems because it has very strong experiences”, he added.

On the other hand, Erik Rubín confessed that he feels quite excited about his return to the stage as an actor, because since his departure from Timbiriche he has sought to remain current in works of theater and with its music. In fact, this is not the first time that Andrea Legarreta’s husband playsEl Faraón, he had already done it on previous occasions, so he has enough experience to make the character shine.< /p>

With maturity I feel like I’m going to tackle a new one… it’s as if I were doing it for the first time but with all my baggage”, he declared for the Televisa program.

The interpreter assured that this new project will not affect the others that are already on the horizon and announced that in the next presentations of Cumbia Machine the cast will have great guests. It is worth mentioning that the new edition of José the dreamer will start on May 20th.

What was the legal problem that Kalimba faced?

It was in November 2010 when Kalimba was accused of allegedly raping a minor with whom he had had an approach during a presentation he offered as a DJ. During the investigation process, OV7 was arrested and sent to preventive detention in Quintana Roo, Mexico.

After a few months, he was left released because there was not enough evidence to prove the crime. In an interview with Yordi Rosado, Kalimba commented that during the investigations a key video was lost, but fortunately for him the resolution was in his favor and over time he has managed to recover his professional career that was affected by the accusations.

“There were videos from cameras that could show that she [Daiana Guzmán] got down to hug me, to tell me ‘I loved meeting you.’ That video the prosecutor disappeared, just like a call that existed to 911 ″, he said he.
