Fighter jet pilots are trained to handle forces of 9 g. Max Verstappen was hit by 51 g during his crash at Silverstone yesterday. That it was a hard blow is further confirmed in this fragment. There is a chilling silence on Max Verstappen’s on-board radio for a few seconds – it seems as if Verstappen is unconscious for a moment.

Only after a few tense seconds does the Dutch driver react. Verstappen cannot produce much more than painful moans and an expletive. Fortunately, he was then able to walk into the ambulance under his own power and after a zipper test he was declared healthy. Fortunately, later in the day the driver was a lot more vocal, as you could read in Verstappen’s reaction to the crash at Silverstone.
