In his opinion, Russia has a sufficient number of forces and means in Syria in case of a possible increase in terrorist orientation in the region.

On the whole, Shvytkin believes, the consequences of the withdrawal of the American troop contingent from Iraq are difficult to predict. He recalled that the words of the US leadership are often at odds with real actions. As an example, he cited the situation with the withdrawal of the American contingent from Syria, which at the moment is still operating there and is, in some way, an accomplice of the terrorists. According to Shvytkin, it is difficult to predict the impact of this decision on the Middle East region.

Earlier it became known that US President Joe Biden announced
on the termination of military missions of the country’s army in Iraq. During a meeting at the White House with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazimi, Biden said that the role of the United States will be limited to helping in training military personnel and fighting the terrorist movement ISIS, which is banned in Russia.
