The Supreme Court accepted an amparo appeal filed by the defendant’s defense and annulled the hearing to control the formalization of the investigation into the death of Valentina González. What the defense attorney says is that the defendant “could be affected by an investigation that he has not formalized.”

The plaintiff representing the victim’s family presented -in parallel- a letter to President Gabriel Boric to evidence alleged irregularities committed by Carabineros and the Investigative Police.
“Felipe Aquiles Olivares Ossio carries out behaviors that show control of the situation before and after the death of Valentina González. (…) It is necessary for the Public Ministry to formalize the investigation, (…) since the main suspects do not have any precautionary measures”.

This was part of a brief presented by lawyer Cynthia Pérez, a plaintiff representing the family of the 27-year-old woman.
Consequently, the Court of First Instance and Guarantee of Quintero ordered a hearing to be held this Friday to discuss the formalization of this investigation, which was later annulled by the Supreme Court.
Humberto Ramírez, lawyer of the Studies Unit of the Valparaíso Regional Public Criminal Defender, specified that such ruling was resolved afterthe presentation of an amparo appeal at the request of the accused “who could be affected by an investigation that he has not formalized”.
POI irregularities
In parallel, Valentina’s family, accompanied by Jaime Brieba, a private criminal investigator, presented a letter to President Gabriel Boric requesting that alleged irregularities committed by the Carabineros and the Investigative Police be clarified. One of them was that the PDI never delivered all the videos from the site of the event.
The victim -it should be remembered- was found lifeless at the end of July of this year, at the “El Duende” of the commune of Quintero.
